
Deirdre Khoo

Deirdre Khoo (she/her) originally hails from the sunny island of Singapore and relocated to Australia to pursue a career in the arts.
Deirdre graduated from the BA of Music Theatre at WAAPA and made her professional debut in Darlinghurst Theatre Company's 2021 (covid-cancelled) tour production of ONCE as Ex-Girlfriend/Swing/Dance Captain, and will return to the upcoming 2022 remount. Her most recent appearance is part of the Midsumma Festival 2022, with the project Trash Pop Butterflies, Dance Dance Paradise, written by Maki Morita, in the role of Pepper.
Prior to this, Deirdre acted as the Assistant Director in VCA's production of The Hello Girls, under Jason Langley's direction. She also originated the role of Julia O'Brien in a new Australian musical, 2084, that premiered at the Nexus Theatre in Western Australia. While at WAAPA, Deirdre's credits include Allison Vernon-Williams in Cry-Baby, Maggie Winslow/Vocal Captain in A Chorus Line (dir. Crispin Taylor), Rosie in Mamma Mia! (dir. Shaun Rennie), Scotty in Merrily We Roll Along (dir. Brent Hill), ensemble in Strictly Ballroom (dir. Crispin Taylor), and the Oathtaker in The Wonderful World of Dissocia (dir. Michael McCall). Deirdre is thrilled to be part of A Midsummer Night's Dream with Melbourne Shakespeare Co.
