Melbourne Shakespeare Studio is a new project developed in 2020 and launched in 2021. Melbourne Shakespeare Studio productions are produced and overseen by the company's Artistic Director Jennifer Sarah Dean and aim to give aspiring directors and designers the chance to work in a professional context with some of the industry's best performers, creatives and crew.

“I knew I always wanted to be able to give young female directors the opportunity to create and develop work without the financial pressure of having to self produce. When you are a new director it is very hard to find producers or companies who are willing to take a chance and work with you and allow you to develop your skills and hone your craft. Without giving these people an opportunity we are missing out on an immense pool of talented creatives with different, exciting and relevant perspectives. MSC Studio aims to change this by bringing together new and emerging artists and creating a safe space for them to learn and develop work”
- Jennifer Sarah Dean (Artistic Director)

Unlike Melbourne Shakespeare Company’s main stage summer productions Melbourne Shakespeare Studio productions will be focussed on some of Shakespeare's darker repertoire and productions may not be suitable for children under 12.

Our first Melbourne Shakespeare Studio production King Lear was due to run from the 26th May - 6th June 2021. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 Lockdown in Melbourne the production was forced to close on 27th May. The cancelled performance were rescheduled to the 20th July - 1st Aug 2021 with the same cast and crew.
