This February we will be returning to Central Park for our brand new musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s final play The Tempest. This 90 minute escapade is filled with all the magic, music and mayhem that you have come to know and love from Melbourne Shakespeare Company. Plus if you book before the 31st of December you can secure tickets for the discounted price of just $25 (RRP $35).

On a distant island a man waits. Robbed of his position, power and wealth, his enemies have left him in isolation. But this is no ordinary man, and this is no ordinary island. Prospero is a magician, able to control the very elements and bend nature to his will. When a sail appears on the horizon, he reaches out across the ocean to the ship that carries the people  who wronged him. Creating a vast magical storm he wrecks the ship and washes his enemies up on the shore. When they wake, they find themselves lost on a fantastical island where nothing is as it seems.

Melbourne Shakespeare Company return to fortyfivedownstairs with their exhilarating contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare’s original political thriller Julius Caesar.

A divisive leader who’s desire for power poses a threat to republicanism is violently assassinated, civil war erupts and through the chaos a new leader must rise to fill the void.

Directed by Richard Murphet with a cast including Robert Menzies and Matthew Connell, Julius Caesar is destined to be a striking new production that you won’t want to miss.
