Quince

Bridget Sweeney is a Naarm-based performer, director and creative producer with a particular affinity for Shakespeare, improvisation and performance that ventures beyond the traditional stage. A long-standing collaborator with Melbourne Shakespeare Company, she has contributed to numerous seasons across the company’s Shakespearean, family and outdoor productions, both onstage and behind the scenes. She is delighted to return to the MSC stage for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Bridget trained in Theatre Production at the Victorian College of the Arts and Acting at the National Theatre Drama School, with further study in social science. Her theatre credits include work with Spinning Plates, Complete Works and Sevenfold, alongside an extensive body of independent theatre and Shakespeare education. Her performance practice has taken her across Australia and internationally, including appearances at UK music festivals and work in site-specific and non-traditional theatrical settings.

Earlier in 2026, Bridget brought her ambitious MARATHON HAMLET to life through her independent creative practice, artistic allsort. The site-specific production brought together a full cast to perform Shakespeare’s tragedy across three Melbourne heritage venues, with Bridget taking on the title role and running a 42.2km marathon between locations.

Beyond the stage, Bridget creates and performs live and digital content for children and families through Starlight Children’s Foundation, bringing her love of storytelling, improvisation and audience connection to healthcare settings.
