Leah Downey

Set Designer

Leah Downey is a Set and Costume Designer known for her inventive, hands on approach and ability to turn simple materials into imaginative theatrical worlds. A graduate of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in the UK with a First Class BA (Hons) in Theatre Design, she works across scenic painting, props and costume making, puppet design, and set dressing.

This marks Leah’s third collaboration with the Melbourne Shakespeare Company, designing the set for The Teddy Bears’ Picnic after previously working as Set Designer on Robin Hood and Design Assistant on Hamlet.

Recent design credits include Berlin (Little Life Productions / Meat Market), Incoming Words of War: The Wives (Little Red Fox Productions / Web Series), Dryland (Quiet Roar Productions / St Martins), Hamlet (Avid Productions / Mycelium Studios), Continental Quilt and Agnes of God (Williamstown Little Theatre).
