Leah Downey

Set Designer

Leah Downey is a Set and Costume Designer known for her practical, collaborative approach and her ability to design, develop, and realise productions of all scales. A graduate of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in the UK with a First Class BA (Hons) in Theatre Design, her practice spans set and costume design, scenic painting, props and costume making, puppet design, and set dressing.

This marks Leah’s fourth collaboration with the Melbourne Shakespeare Company, returning as Set Designer for The Taming of the Shrew, following her work on The Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Robin Hood (Set Designer), and Hamlet (Design Assistant).

Recent design credits include Berlin (Little Life Productions / Meat Market), Incoming Words of War: The Wives (Little Red Fox Productions / Web Series), Dryland (Quiet Roar Productions / St Martins), Hamlet (Avid Productions / Mycelium Studios), Continental Quilt, and Agnes of God (Williamstown Little Theatre).
